Taiex ends up at high but turnover falls before holiday - Focus Taiwan
The Taiwan Stock Exchange saw its benchmark index, the Taiex, climb to a high closing point on Wednesday, though trading activity slowed as a holiday approached. The index finished the session at 48,157.29, marking an increase of 357.12 points or 0.75 percent. Throughout the day, the market fluctuated between a low of 47,894.77 and a peak of 48,341.56. Despite the gains, total turnover dropped to NT$855.95 billion, equivalent to approximately US$27.01 billion, which was a significant decrease from the NT$1.068 trillion recorded during Tuesday’s session.
